I usually deal with colds easily, they cause me little problem but, this is different.Lots of it about - and it could just be me, but colds seem more like how you describe these days, rather than just a bit of a runny nose.
Yup. Mrs. P brother says it quite often. His head is firmly up his backside. Neither of us get on, he thinks I was born in a gutter and he's been pampered all his life. He wouldn't know a decent days work if it came up and bit him.Wow...do people really say; ...."OMG"...
That's cringy as hell. I haven't come across it myself. If I did, I might be compelled to pretend not to know what it means. Press the point, for fun.
As the old saying goes, you can choose your friends...Yup. Mrs. P brother says it quite often. His head is firmly up his backside. Neither of us get on, he thinks I was born in a gutter and he's been pampered all his life. He wouldn't know a decent days work if it came up and bit him.
Too true 👍As the old saying goes, you can choose your friends...
Anyone who judges people based upon things that they cannot help is an idiot.
Oh dear. It's bloody depressing. I've no idea what it feels like to have been pampered one's whole life.Yup. Mrs. P brother says it quite often. His head is firmly up his backside. Anyhoo.
Yes. Nearly all for me. I'd better not say which ones I despise the most. One? All of them surely!
Yes I couldn't agree more. I'm getting the feeling, certainly in the last few years, that a lot of politicians aren't worried at all about fulfilling their promises. Furthermore, they couldn't care less, what any of the ordinary British public want or think at all. They seem indifferent to me.STANDING CHARGES FOR ENERGY.
When energy prices come down slightly in April, standing charges are increasing to around 91p per day.
So you pay more than you used to when you leave everything switched off.
AND Ofgem have decided to put £28 on all annual bills to cover debts to the energy companies - companies that have all recorded record profits - and whose bosses are paid millions.
(BG boss said his £4,000,000 salary is too much. Who wouldn't agree with that?).
Yes, there are other important things going on in the world but....the political party that gave a cast iron promise to scrap standing charges on energy, would be voted in at the next election wouldn't they?
Where I live in Wales lots of houses have been switched over to solar panels and heat source pumps as their only heating, including our house. We had no choice because our energy efficiency rating would have been too low and the house would have been illegal to rent out.
The new heating system doesn't work when the weather is cold. Luckily, we didn't allow them to remove our Rayburn and coal's still available.
Our friend and neighbour had a similar system fitted. They ripped out her fairly recently fitted oil fired system and her electricity bill is now about two to three times what it used to be.
An insulation inspector visited her house yesterday while I was there at my neighbours house. He told me, that when the weather's too cold for these heat source pumps to extract enough heat out of the air, they're struggling to get any radiators warm at all unless they're left running all the time.
Do you have one?If the AHSP isn't heating your homes properly then it's a poorly designed system/installation. Probably either under spec, or more commonly the pipe work is the issue. Old 10mm microbore systems are totally inadequate for ASHP for example, they require 22mm circulation/feed pipes and 15mm radiator tails to operate properly.
As for the insulation inspector he is talking out of his hat!
ASHP are very popular in much colder climates than ours....
Strange thing is he never attended private school, only drives a Citreon people carrier... his wife's family are very rich, his father-in-law worked oil. His house was largely paid for by his wife's dad... £800,000 the cost and nearly half has been paid for. I wonder if they would be still together if they weren't that rich?Oh dear. It's bloody depressing. I've no idea what it feels like to have been pampered one's whole life.
Back to the needless bleedin' acronyms or text speak..... that's a poor excuse.
I think it's kind of annoying even in messages.
Been watching standing charges creep-up over the last year. Came out of a fixed-rate last year and have done two tariff changes since, standing charge rates have changed as follows:STANDING CHARGES FOR ENERGY.

I think I'm beginning to understand. Money doesn't equal merit in my view. Posh accents aside, people with money can be cultured, intelligent and decent. Others - uncultivated, brash not particularly civil. Lacking generosity.Strange thing is he never attended private school, only drives a Citreon people carrier... his wife's family are very rich, his father-in-law worked oil. Mrs. Ps mum isn't short of a Bob or two yet the only prezzie I've received, at Christmas, was a box of tea bags (in a metal tin).
The maintenance costs for the pipes and power supply have to be covered, no matter how much or how little you use.STANDING CHARGES FOR ENERGY.

And that's increased three-fold in the last two years has it?The maintenance costs for the pipes and power supply have to be covered, no matter how much or how little you use.
No idea. Generally, the government force the companies to do loads of unneeded 'improvements' to the infrastructure. These costs have to be covered. And that's increased three-fold in the last two years has it?
They certainly do 👍The maintenance costs for the pipes and power supply have to be covered
The old ''punish success and reward failure'' argument. It'll never work. They certainly do 👍
And, as part of the promise to scrap standing charges, this would be acknowledged - as they are transferred completely to the unit cost of energy.
The way things stand at present, everyone will be paying less after April. But, thanks to increasing standing charges, those using the least energy will be getting proportionately less of a reduction in their costs (because SC will be increasing while unit cost is falling).
Not only would the necessary change help the poorest, but It could easily be spun as a green initiative - the more energy you use, the (even) more you pay.....the energy users would be covering the infrastructure.....those that are occasionally forced to use nothing, would actually be paying nothing for those periods - rather than 91 pence per day
You have some very strange views, which of course you are entitled to, but they are polar opposite to mine. The old ''punish success and reward failure'' argument. It'll never work.
I say this with no political axe, but that's the whole basis of the taxation system - I'd argue that for better or worse (and that would be politics, so let's not pick up that baton), it's pretty engrained in life as we know it.The old ''punish success and reward failure'' argument. It'll never work.
It's not taxation, it's a good or service. When we buy a new car, the price isn't based on how much we use it. The price is fixed. A system where the car is free but servicing costs will go up to cover would be nonsense.I say this with no political axe, but that's the whole basis of the taxation system -
