The Met Gala. Never watched it but seen some clips on the news. With the issues in some parts of the world the Gala reminded me somewhat of The Hunger Games, ruddy pointless and ridiculous.

One for room 101 (that’s probably been mentioned many times already): people who spend more time staring at screens to film/photograph things happening in real life.

As someone that never takes a smartphone out of the house - I certainly agree with that.

However, for many in England, the Friday Northern lights were visible only on screens and not with the naked eye 🤪

The photos my brother got from as far south as Canvey Island in Essex were unbelievably good.

Without wanting to go all '70s, my mother-in-law. Rang to ask about a replacement CD player as theirs has died, by which she meant some sort of all-in-one from the most budget end of the market - £30-40 on Amazon. Told her I knew nothing about that end of the market and just to be guided by reviews - look for a large enough number and mostly 4-5 stars. She later told my wife I'd been 'most unhelpful.' Old bag.

I agree with her. It would have taken 5 minutes on the internet to find something. In fact, you could have found something in less time than you took to post your rant on here. In fact, ''most unhelpful'' is putting it rather mildly!

I do love her, but she was a nightmare last Xmas. They used to have big family get-togethers, but as dad's got less able mentally and physically it's ended up just being me, Mrs 12th and our daughter the last two years. This means I've spent almost all of the last two Christmas mornings cooking, and last year she'd got a bag on and barely spoke until the desserts were served. When she moved from front room to dining room, you could feel the temperature drop by 10°. Mrs 12th tells me we're not babysitting them this coming Christmas, which is music to my ears.

I do loads for them, and Mrs 12th massive amounts. But hey, it seems OK in some quarters (i.e. not you!) to judge me because I didn't telepathically understand I was supposed to do more than she was asking this time...

Thanks for the understanding implicit in the likes, chaps.

Over the last year I've set up their powers of attorney, pruned back the entire garden, sorted out problems with their soundbar, helped shift dad's hospital bed downstairs, helped them roll over their ISAs (which took a couple of hours as they've forgotten every password under the sun), sorted out their Bibo water filter being cleaned - the list goes on. And this is on top of dealing with my own dad's shopping, medical needs etc etc. I don't think I'm unreasonable in feeling a little hard done by under the circumstances.

They no longer sell 6 pint milk 🤬
You don't have to be a cynic to know why.
Same reason they've stopped selling 1kg Stockwell soft spread - both saved the customer money over the next sizes down.

I read that the top boss was on 10 million this year.

There's arguably more politics involved when it comes to Eurovision voting.

Following on from the “so” reply:

The general misuse of the English language, much of it imported from across The Pond. For example, gift, you don’t gift something to someone else, you give it. Another misuse that really annoys me, is the way unique is used now. Something is not a bit unique, so unique or very unique, it is either unique, or it is not, there are no degrees of uniqueness.

I’ll stop there, if I try to go through the lot, I’ll wear a hole in my iPad screen!

To this, I would like to add ‘vintage’. A new product is not ‘vintage’ because it is designed to, superficially, resemble an old item also, something is not ‘vintage’, just because it is a few years old…

Seem to be plenty in the public eye who now seem intent on being as (how shall I word it?) unsymapthetic as possible. I think I'd have a slight preference for exaggerating ones niceness to broadcasting every horrible thought that occurs - but obviously simple honesty would be preferable. But I fear we might be leaning towards the political.
