Yes the pink- lipped lady picture is from a Channel 4 documentary on cosmetic surgery.
They do it to improve their appearance.....so we're led to believe she looked worse before.

I was sitting behind a woman in a blood test waiting room - could only see the back of her head.
She turned sideways and frightened the fu..... life out me - her eyelashes and lips were about half inch apart.

Cooking programmes on TV.

Sadly the naughtiness of its presenters won't see the back of the endless Masterchef and all its spinoffs
Because, as the BBC said, "the show is bigger than its presenters"
What they meant was "Banijay have just completed a purpose built studio in Birmingham, so they can continue to churn out the same old b****cks for us for years to come" ☹️

Master Chief and his messianic overtones, that everyone around him are cret*ns not worthy of washing his feet. It's the same overcooked formula, it does become wearisome. No more cookery programs for me! 🙂

Poor manners, in this instance one particular variant - pub manners. We've been away these last two weeks, and it strikes me that in two important ways they are worse here:

- Get out of someone's way so they can pass whilst carrying drinks and you don't seem to get any thanks, or even acknowledgement.

- I was the only person waiting to be served and noticed a chap and his daughter appear to my right. The barman asked him what he wanted whilst he finished off the order he was working on, and chap in question started to reel it off. Interrupted him to say I was next, and he just said 'well, he asked me.' Yep, and like all decent folk, you could have said that you were not next.

I'm not saying these things never happen at home, but they're pretty rare.

EDIT - This makes it sound like we've spent the whole holiday in the pub, which is (I assure you!) far from the truth...

Yeah, I've noticed lately, more than used to be the case, I will pull over for people on a narrow lane and they drive on by without a little sign of acknowledgement.
I'll even reverse for them, sometimes quite a way, and the same thing.
It hardly costs any trouble to be polite and friendly towards others.

Same here, on a narrow country lane, first to move to the side and let them pass.
Most would acknowledge, some will pass by, they don't see you. Usually youngsters with testosterone's to burn.
Older folk much more courteous and polite.

Annoying also, when you form a queue at the new checkout, you're still waiting for the cashier to arrive and you're watching the few people who were behind you in the old queue, who decided to stay put, heading off with their bagged up shopping to the car park!

We do a bit of both actually, for the big shopping (and raw lamb hearts for the cats) it's Tesco online, for the casual shopping it's over to the local supermarket.

Tesco's online they like to milk the customer; you need £50 minimum shopping otherwise they'll charge you extra for the handling, so it makes sense to shop small for the ad-hoc stuff.

I'm slowly learning to take my daughter's advice. Stop stressing about the queues, if they open another one, just stay put we're not in a rush. If we are specifically asked to go to another till and the original queue moves faster stay calm. 😵‍💫

Agents/promoters and the prices they charge. I took my daughter to Manchester Comiccon at the weekend and she paid to meet an actor and get his autograph etc not a major star but he played a character she was besotted with. £60 for an autograph £60 for a professional photograph and even £60 for a member of staff to take a photo with my daughter's own phone. So she spent £180. The promoters put the digital files up yesterday of the professional photos. You'd think when you've paid for the photo in the first place you would get a code for the digital file....No another £7 for the digital file. I wonder how much of that money the actual actors get? For bigger stars you're paying £££'s

We've got quite a collection of signed stuff, almost all from eBay*, a few in person or by post.

(*I always buy from someone who's in one of the trade bodies - there's AFTAL and another whose name escapes me - if they are prepared to pay to go on courses and maintain their membership, that suggests good things. Plus check online to see if the sig looks like it should.)
