As you can see in my signature I'm rather digital these days.

Today my dealer had the new Rega RP8, and I wanted to take the opportunity to listen what all this fuzz is about turntables.

Attached to a proper Sudgen the first thing I said was "whow". It's a mechanical masterpiece, and as such it's a pleasure to look at.

And then some music. Donald Fagen, Mumford & Sons, and a whole lot more.

Conclusion of this day: I want a turntable. It's not better than digital... it's just different. The Donald Fagen record (Morph the cat) was literally awesome. No other words to describe it.

Too bad you need to get out of your chair to go the next song :)

I've not had a chance to listen to our RP8 yet, but I'm quite interested as the RP3 and RP6 are excellent turntables. I doubt it'll pull me away from my Gyro SEduction, but I would've been so tempted if it was going to be available in the now discontinued blue finish that the RP6 used to be available in...

Hi spockfish

I've had my RP8/Apheta for a few days now and I would say that with the RP8 Rega has on its hands yet another winner

Btw, did you hear the RP8 with the Apheta cartridge?

All the best

And what turn table would that be? A RP3?

As you can se i'm into digital as well, i don't want to buy another CD, and if i have to is just because i couldn't find it for sale in FLAC. But the first this that i will do is rip it into a FLAC files!

In the future the CD will desappear, vynil and digital will became the main source for us ( this is just my oppinion).

Maybe this summer i'll buy a RP3 to complete my Rega altar.

this was the only thing where there was no 'instant love'. The speakers were Xanadu, which is a dutch brand. http://www.xanaduspeakers.nl/nl

not bad at all, but also not that special. at least imho.

I spent a lot of time at the FH Open Day listening to the RP8 and was really really impressed, that was with the Ios and Orsiris and PMC Fact 8's. I am not a massive fan of PMC's so thats saying something

Just managed to mix wonderfull music wrapped up in a lovely soundstage.

A vinyl player is a complete package, i.e. the phono stage and the pickup is as important as the platter. I'm convinced that an RP8 with a MM and a phono stage on budget can't compete with an RP3 with a solid MC and a matching low level stage.
