rega rp1 song skipping

Got a regards rp1 yesterday and everything was brillant until I played The album Shields by Grizzly bear (the hunt, first song on side B) started skipping or repeating a small section of the song. Tried it again on old player and everything was OK.

Have played only about 10 records so far on the rega and this song was the only problem so far. Have gone through the instructions again and think everything is OK.

Just home now playing a couple of different records to see if this problem re occurs. Would appreciate any help.

OK have changed the bias slider from the recommended 2 to 0 and have cured the grizzly bear song issue. Question now is what this is doing and am I effecting sound quality output.

Could be a fault on the Vinyl.

I put on Wings "Band on the Run" last night only 2nd play and new vinyl 180gram I think.

When I got it there was a radial mark across side A. There is occasional clicking like a scratch but ony 2-3 revs ata time intermittent.

But at one point on 1st play it jumped once, on the 2nd play last night it just stuck there for at least 15 goes before I took it off. I rbbed my finger nail over it and on relpay the jump was gone. It did feel as though there was a sticky residue on the surface.

Have you adjusted the anti skate a little either way and tried it. to be hones I would put it down tio a duff copy if all the others are ok.

Recomended a/s is 1.75 unless you are not using the OM5E cart.

I always set the bias control as low as possible on my Rega Planar 3. I recommend you half what is the suggested setting.

i.e. if tracking weight is 2 gm set the bias to 1.

The setting you have should not unduelly affect sound quality.
