tjsshanty:The tonearm on my TT broke; the lever no longer stayed in the upright position and so it no longer supported the arm. I got it repaired (for some reason this took 3 weeks), however, the plastic ridge that supports the arm has been put the wrong way round and so can only be used to lower the arm onto the run-in. Any suggestions? Can I fix this myself?
Get onto ebay and find a 1.27mm Allen key (tiny thing).
This will loosen the tiny screw that fixes the height and angle of the armlift.
Just loosen (don't remove) the screw and rotate the curved rest around until it is in the correct position. Check height is correct before tightening again.
I don't agree with this. The repair has been botched therefore it is up to the company concerned to make good their work. I assume they were paid, so it is their responsibility.
Go back with the turntable, and demand they fix it.
Quite right too, but if it took them 3 weeks to fix it in the first place, it might be less hassle to do it yourself - its a 20 second job. Maplins also do a set of Allen keys that include the size you need for £4 if you're too impatient to wait for an ebay seller to mail out.
