Just playing this magnificent disc on the stereo; utterly sublime. Never heard of this lady until Steve Hoffman recommended the recording on his forum. All of the RCA L-S discs date from the mid-50s to the early 1960s, but the recording quality is just stunning. Think they only used about three mikes at the most for the sessions, but wow, they really are something else. Her voice is so well projected, the balance in the music across the instruments is near perfect and it's one of those recordings that grabs your attention from the off. Not shy on emotion either and the passion in her voice is gripping. They have these discs on Amazon for about a fiver in some cases, this one included. Well worth a visit to get a hold of recordings this good. I've picked up three and there'll be a few more to come yet I think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leontyne_Price
