Query about Yamaha YSP 2200

Hello Everybody -

Just a quick question for those who have had experience with the Yamaha YSP 2200.

If your room is square, does it need to be empty to get the surround sound effect.

My room is squarely shaped, but i have a couple of desks down the left side of the room and was wondering if i would get good surround sound.

no it dosn't need to be empty.my wife sits squarely in front of our soundbar and I'm about 3' off center and the sound for her is much better
