I know that sony have announced that the ps3 will be able to play 3D bluerays, but i was wondering, since the ps3 has hdmi 1.3, how will it be able to dislay the film since you need hmi 1.4 to display it. Will ir be displayed as 1080i to cope with the bandwidth? Sorry if this a silly question.

Exactly what the PS3 will offer in terms of 3D is yet to be confirmed, but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that the existing HDMI output could be firmware upgraded to offer the capabilities included in the HDMI 1.4 spec required for 3D.

After all, it's the same phsyical connector...

Thank you for the quick reply. I was thinking that a update would allow the ps3 to accept 1.4 but since alot of modern AV's have a network port, could they be updated to accept 3D? Sorry again if this has been a repeated question

It's not a question of modifying the PS3 to 'accept' 1.4, but rather allowing its output to connect to a suitable screen. As for receivers, again not sure - Onkyo at least has said it will be making 1.4-compatible receivers, starting soon.

I think you do possess a real flair for comedy. Your comeback lines are certainly fun to read - potent yet funny.
