Pioneer SC-LX83 - does it have built-in Wi-Fi or not?

Hello Gurus,

I am trying to find a new amp which will give me wireless AV streaming via Wi-Fi (not Bluetooth) and preferably with decent support for IPod. Now I thought I had hit gold when I read the review of the Pioneer SC-LX83 as the review stated "There’s THX Ultra 2 Plus certification, Ethernet and wi-fi to let the Pioneer handle internet radio and your network-stored audio or video files, and there’s a proprietary iPod connection cable included".

However, in all further reading and investigating of specs, I can't find any mention of wi-fi. Is the review mistaking Wi-Fi(802.11x) for Bluetooth? Does this amp have Wi-Fi or not?

I think I suspect the answer is no, but oh, would all my prayers be answered if it did! Failing that, are there any other amps worth considering around this price point? All the usual gizmos required, but the Wi-Fi and IPod could be deal-clinchers....

TIA for any advice/answers,

Graeme

I cant beleive it but my denon 4810 which cost £2800 exactly 12 mths ago can now be had for £1499 on a quick google (and presumably less)

It has wifi - some guys in the states have had issue with the wifi but mine is rock solid (touch wood). I stream internet radio with it and have never had an issue in a year of use.

It also has direct ipod interaction - no dock required as I understand it (but do your homework on this as I do not own any apple products and I cant say more then that)

9 amps on board and 11 channels of processing so with an additional 2 channel amp it can run full 7.1 PLUS heights PLUS wides

BUT it aint 3d, It also aint THX certifiied if that floats your boat

You should be able to make any network receiver wireless by connecting a wireless ethernet bridge.

Thanks KBAudio, the 4810 sounds like a contender for audition
