latest rumour that pioneer are going to stop manufacturing plasma altogether and to source screens from panasonic ,any info on this ,lets hope this is a rumour as without doubt they produce the best plasma tvs money can buy it would be a very dark day worst than the death of hddvd .

Totally unsubstantiated rumour - no doubt bought on by confusion over this.

And even if it were true, doesn't mean to say Pioneer would produce anything less special: so much of what makes a TV great is the design and software engineering, not the basic screen itself.

That's how you can get different manufacturers use the same, core screen and produce two very different end products, thanks to different video processing, connectivity and more.

Highly unlikely, IMHO. Pioneer has invested a huge amount in plasma technology over the years, and even if they switch to LCD for smaller screen sizes, I can't see them abandoning plasma for bigger screens of 50in+.

i wish they would go back to making 43in again, a extra inch makes all the difference on the big screen hmm.
