HDDVD Dead ? Just sold my Toshiba HDXE1 and replaced with a Pioneer BDP LX70A. I find the Pioneer picture very grainy with DVD's ( although upscaling seems to look better that the Tosh), the BD picture is nowehere near as detailed as the Toshiba. Anyone with similar experiences, or have I bought a dud player ( sorry am an E-Bay addict, but it was brand new).........On the upside the HD sound compared to the Tosh is out of this world, but again, feel let down with the picture quality....

Used Resident Evil Extinction and Saw 4. Not the most cultured I know ! Have just bought Stealth and Ghost Rider and will try tonight. Have tried changing the settings on my TV ( SONY KDL 40x2000) with limited improvement. Playing through my Onkyo TXSR605 ( which improved the picture of the XE1).

i hope that you have sorted out your picture quality issues, but just in case you are still unhappy (i have the pioneer 70a, onkyo 875 and sony 40w2000) if you post the settings i could see how they compare. I havnt got or had an hddvd player to compare but i find the picture quality amazing. Hope this helps.
