Pioneer A-300R

Can anyone give me a quick opinion of the Pioneer A-300R (non Tom Evans upgrade version). As good as the A-400?

Main problem is the phono stage - a let down in comparison to the A-400 according to reviews.

Thanks. Apart from phono stage, (all my vinyl is in the loft anyway), it would be fair to say it had a similar sound quality?

Yes, unless somebody can prove me wrong, there is little difference in sound quality - especially if your not using it on some £10,000 ATC reference speakers or something! Anyway, the specs show little difference.

It should be one cool amp!

Very good too but less power I believe. Thus, I would expect less control, particularly of difficult loads and higher volumes.

Not as good as an original A-400, but still none too shabby. Sensible 'pre-loved' buy.

it went for under £40! now that was a bargain

Yep, I bought it for £35.01 (compared to an Ebay average of £80 - £100 for an A-400).

Pretty damn chuffed.
