Philips 55OLED907 vs LG G5

Hi,

I have a 2.5 year old 2023 Philips 55OLED907 and I’m considering swapping to an LG G5. Can anyone advise, would there be an appreciable and noticeable improvement in picture quality? I know both were/are classed as flagship, has the tech moved on significantly in 2.5 years? TIA

Hi Red you have a very good TV already and with B&W sound .I have the LGC3 the picture is excellent but the TV speakers are not so good .
If i was you i would go and demo a few LGs and see if its worth the spend .

I would imagine putting them side by side you may notice some very minor differences. The G5 has the layered panel for example and a slightly wider colour gamut. The Philips has some good processing and is no slouch at all though. I would suggest it likely sounds better than the LG as well. But away from having them set up next to each other I doubt you could tell much difference. The year on year upgrades bring minor incremental improvements. In your position I would keep the Philips for a few more years yet. I know the itch to upgrade is always there, but I doubt you would see much benefit at all. Will make it all the more worthwhile when you do upgrade.
