Hi I am looking to buy the Philips 52PFL7404, have found it at a good price but wondered of anyone has any thoughts on this LCD. I currently have a 42" plasma, Sky HD, PS3, and view from 10 -11 ft.

I am also looking at the 50g10, the Philips is about £30 more but I am totally confused........ which one to buy, the Philips only comes with a 1 yr warranty but the Panasonic comes with 5yrs

Thanks for any help

Ron

Thanks Maxflinn

I really dont know whats is best to do, I think I will get a few replys from Panny / Philips owners, but was hoping to get a bit of impartial advice. Am waiting on John Lewis to confirm the price match before I make a decision.

Thanks

I would go for the philips every time (though I do own one).

If you look at the reviews for the panasonic & the philips that alone should make your mind up.

We recently exchanged it for a faulty Samsung plasma, and my wife now says she can see how awesome Full HD pictures look fed from our blu-ray player.

The detail is excellent, motion is very good too, you will not feel let down by this set, oh and the asthetics are much better too.

Thanks for the help on this one, having had a choice this morning of Philps at £859 for the 52 or £642 for the 50 g10 I had to go with the panasonic, as much as I was tempted by the Philips I have not seen the set in person, and did not want to risk not liking it. The real sealer was £200+ difference.

Thanks

£642.50 sounds unrealistically cheap to me , well done if thats what you got it for...

Paid for it at 5am this morning, and money is showing as charged to my debit card, have had confirmation on the delivery date,so I assume that all is O.K. Keep checking back because they were all out of stock until early hours of this morning.

Even at £750 its a good deal, will let you know in 12 days time.

Thanks

Mark,

I noted you own the 52PFL7404H.

May I ask how you are finding it now... pic good, off axis viewing etc?

Also, where did you purchase it from?

I have to say I do like it, I have had some bad experiences of late with some samsung LED & plasma models so I went for this after reading the review on the 47" version.

I had to buy it from beyondtelevsion.co.uk because it was a 3rd replacement of a Samsung 50PSB850.

The only 2 things I would comment on are the black levels are not the best, useually only noticeable when watching a movie with the black bars top and bottom. Even then it's not terrible, but I have own a few plasma's in the past.

Also, the HD natural Motion, takes a little to get used to, but if you can it is well worth it. not that the set suffers from any type of blurring with it switched off, it's just with it on the picture seems almost 3D (HD), it seems to really focus the pixels.

SD is as good as anything I have seen at his size.

On the plus side, even though this is quite a large set, there is no backlight problems, you can never see any clouding anywhere, amazing.

Also the Asthetics are very nice, and the gloss black frame does not scratch, when wiping it softly with the cloth supplied (unlike all the samsungs I had).

Can't comment on the sound, as I use it with my AV set up.

Hope this helps.
