MMMM well problem is you narrowed you list down to 2 itams almost for shore (Jadis or AMS) I keep putting stuf on my list :?

Or maybe the Lavardin IS will be the surprise in home demo...that would be :rofl: :doh:

Sadly Cno, the IS Ref lacks the tape loop facility too.
Lavardin really are minimalist in design.

Can't find any dealers for Electrocompaniet to get a home demo.

I think AE stock Audio Analogue, but I've hounded them for the dem of the Perreaux so much, don't really like to switch my attention to another.

Any particular models of these brands you'd recommend Cno?

Believe me when I say that it is worth the effort to try Electrocompaniet equipment .

I have heard Electrocompaniet amps described by others as Sugden on steroids , I thinks they are far more than that but if that description appeals to you then please give them a try you won't regret it .

I would recommend you give AE a ring on the various merits of Perreaux vs Audio Analogue vs Sugden. It would at least give you an idea if it's worth pursuing.

It has a lot of similar qualities to the IA4 but goes deeper and is far more powerful sounding in the bass , it copes far better when the music gets complex or has a lot of powerful transients and is an extremely transparent amp that never seems to put a foot wrong no matter what type of music you like .

If you get a chance try to get a home demo , it is worth a phone call to Audio Destination because I have found them very helpful in the past and I am sure they will do their best to help you .

BTW, had an Email from a dealer today saying the Lavardin IT does in fact have tape in and outs.

If it can be of any help...I actually preferred the IT to the Sudgen, but I think there is quite a step up between the Lavardin It and the AMS35i. But again the AMS will need a lot of energy...probably even more than the Sudgen you want to change.

Electro will answer for himself.... but as far as I'm concerned, it's much more to my taste, and like the amp, gives a lovely musical presentation (dynamic while remaining organic). Well worth trying along with the amp.

If memory serves, it and the amp sound noticeably better using balanced connections.....but Electro can probably confirm this.

If I had to pick one piece of equipment that I can honestly say is the best source of any type that I have ever heard including vinyl and other hi res digital formats it would be the EMC1UP, what it is able to do with a simple ordinary Cd is amazing .

I have owned it since the UP model was available in the UK in 2003 and the current EMC1UP sold now remains unchanged since it's introduction which says a lot !

This Cd player just plays music in a way that no other source of any type that I have heard can do so I would heartily recommend you try it at the same time as the Eci5 and definitely use the balanced connections it is how it was designed to be used , it sounds considerably better using the balanced interconnect option IMO .

Another thing worth noting is that it needs to be warmed up for about half an hour before serious listening mainly due to the discreet class A analogue output stage I think .

I do have two small criticisms one being a slightly fiddly set up after the transit screws are released it also has to be level for best results , the other is the awful cheap looking standard remote control , it is functional but not what you would expect at this price !

There is also a good set of test measurements done by Noel Keywood at the end of the review that shows that it is flat from 2HZ to 21.3 HZ .
