Ladies and Gents,

I recently purchased a Panasonic TH-46PZ85B with a Sky HD box, Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blueray player and good quality HDMI cables.

My question is this. Via the blue ray player and watching movies etc on HD the performance of the television is fantastic but when it comes to sports the picture is jerky the ball appears to track across the screen etc. Is it as simple as Ive not got the television set up properly or I have I made a gaff in purchasing this product?

I am also not overly impressed with the audio on the system could you please suggest some reasonably priced audio systems that would go with the above set up.

Thanking you in advance.

John.

Hi With regards to the problems you're having with the Sport; Have you turned OFF the IFC (Intelligent Frame Creation) and other picture "enhancements" succh as Digital noise reduction and so forth?

Switch off the Intelligent Frame stuff watching SD and football should look great again. There has been a lot of talk about this in this and every other forum on the internet.

Makes me wonder why Panasonic thought it (IFC) was a good idea!

Gents,

Thankyou for the info it is much appreciated. Any thoughts on a audio system that's reasonably priced?

I am very intersteed if by turning of the IFC your picture improved whilst watching sports (Football especially)

Reason is I am planning on ordering one from JL on Saturday

Any info much appreciated

Unfortunately the picture on sports has not improved I am at a loss as what to do It's really irritating when watching any sports invoving a ball.

Sorry for the late reply, but Ive been away.

Something you don't quite make clear is whether your problems with football are from Sky Sports HD or terrestrial sources. Have you tried watching the FA Cup final sequence on the BBC HD preview as a comparison?

Prof,

I would like to spend in the region of a £1,000 for a decent system if one exists. Surround preferably.

Thanks,

John.

For £1000 you could get an Onkyo 606 (£350-£400) and a set of Quad L-ite (£495) giving you £100 to £155 for cables, the only problem with this system is the Quad's are getting hard to find in any colour but Rosewood, Try for a bigger discount on Rosewood they look really good if they will go with your living room. I have this system in Silver and am very happy with it. I looked at KEF 3005, KEF 5005.2, Monitor Audio Radius, but got the Quad's as they were as good as the last 2 for AV and better for music did not like the 3005 and at £500 are just silly, they are about to be updated, the only real difference is the gold plated terminals and will go back up to £1000............

Yup, Gary's recommendations above are sound assuming you're okay with a traditional looking speaker package. I'd also look at the Q Acoustics 1010i speaker package for that price range. WHF also posted news on new Denon amps being brought out soon so, if you're not in a hurry, you could wait and see what happens there...
