Panasonic DMPBD80 or Pioneer BDP-320 or Sony BDP-S550 or LG 390.

Have posted before asking a similar question but now I find I have a little more budget.

These players seem to be pretty much rivals in their price range and I fancy the Sony but am after either experience of any machine and hopefully a definitive answer as to which I should get for the best in pic and sound quality and for SD upscaling.

Its got to be either the 320 which can now be bought for £200.00 or the LG which seems to get excellent reviews. Although I have always rated the Panasonic products I would rule this one out myself in comparison

However the bext gen players are now appearing which will be 3D ready or upgradeable to 3D ready including the Sony BDpS370 which I believe can be had for abopu £160.00

The picture quality should be superb if the S360 and S560 etc are anything to go by bearing in mind the usual improvements each gen renders

Whether you are keen to take up 3D or not at the moment - it would be nice to have the choice to adopt in the future surely

Avoid the LG - pitiful disc compatability from my experience and the Pioneer is geriatric at loading times, go for the Panasonic or the Sony

We're just conducting a Supertest of new Blu-ray players in your price range - including comparing them to last year's models. Judging by the early results, I'd wait to read that test before you buy, if I were you

I have the Panny BD80, excellent player. However if you dont need 5.1 analogue audio outs you could go for the BD60 which will save you some dosh

chudleighpaul tell me something if you know...does your player have lipsync adjustement?

The Panny does not appear to have lipsync adjustment. However this is something that I have never found a problem. I connect the player directly to to the TV (Sony 40" W2000) via HDMI and I use the analogue out for audio for Bluray and Coax out for audio for DVD. Lipsync is perfect on all discs with the exception of Pandorum which has a very slight problem which others have reported, which seems to be a disc authoring problem.
