panasonic dmp bd55

I have been reading reviews on the blue ray panasonic dmp bd55 it looks good to me, and as i am getting on in years i am a bit slow in the tec department, so i will need a little help from you tec people. I have a sony dav s800 5 1 home cinema system getting on in years like me, and the connections on the amp are video 1 jack, video 2 jacks, digital in(optical)jack, digital out(optical) jack, monitor out(videos jacks) i dont understand what any of them do, so would my receiver be compatible with the panasonic dmp bd55? as i believe its 7.1

Unless you have the panasonic BD55 you probably won't be able to get it as it's now been discontinued, it's replacement is the BD80 which has analogue outputs for sound - center, left & right, surround left & right, & subwoofer, you should also have these connections on your amp, you will need six rca phono cables or three doubles to connect it up.
