Hello.

Can anyone offer suggestions for a CD player to pair wth Rotel RA-06 and Monitor Audio BR5.

I´ve been looking at Marantz cd 5003 and Cambridge Audio 350 C as options.

I can´t audition them. So sadly i´ll have to buy them in the dark.

Thanks in advance.

I'm with PP on this one...

I bought a 2nd hand Arcam DiVA CD72 last week for £51! There are some bargains to be had so the Arcam DiVA CD72 or CD73 would be the ones to go for IMO; a much better soundstage and system synergy with your Rotel amp and M/A speakers

Thanks guys.

I'll check it out.

Still, for the budget conscious (considering a new cd player) what do you think of the options above.

I would avoid Cambridge. They can be feisty, added to the upfront nature of Rotel and MAs and you may end up with a tooth-grinding presentation. Marantz should sound good with Rotel, but for sheer VFM and overall SQ I would stick with my choice and dans.

If youre after brand spanking new; you'll not go far wrong with the NAD C515BEE CDP

It's a great little spinner and has a detailed soundstage but gels a lot better than the C/A CDP's IMO

If you're happy with 2nd hand; go for one of the Arcams OR a NAD C542 CDP if you can find one

The Rega Apollo would go rather nicely into that system...

It really would but I dont think it'll be within his budget

Thanks for the suggestions.

I think i could stretch my budget up to 350 pounds more so. But once again i live in Mexico and my options are limited and auditions impossible.

Yesterday i took home the NAD 515 on a one week trial.

Even though it is still in it's running in period i can say it's sounding great.

Surprisingly the sales rep. said he could come up with a s/hand ARCAM cd73 so we'll see.

Again, thanks a lot for your suggestions.

What's your opinion between de Arcam Cd73 and Rega Apollo with this system?

The CD73 is quite warm and smooth, the Apollo is more forward and brighter, not strident but more open.
