optical or USB for connecting to cyrus 8xpd for music from MAC mini?

Guys,

Just got the cyrus Amp, very impressed. spoilt for choice on the connections.

Question is whether the optical link is better than the USB port.

Thing is, want to play movies from the mac mini & music on a separate channel. Which connector to choose. Do i go optical for tv programs and movies from the mac? Then USB for itunes? this kind of makes sense, but wanted to check

Also have it hooked up to the pioneer AV reciever where it acts as a power amp for the B&W front XT4's (the rest of the xt's being powered by the pioneer SCLX - 71).

would appreciate some sage like advice.

opt gives slightly better sq then usb in my experience.

is it all going through the same dac? if so just use optical for both.
