new technology to an old head

At present I have a Toshiba surround sound tv,which I have had for many years, and I would now like to buy a complete new system. My budget is around £2,000. Can anyone advise me on something suitable. The size of the room is 6mx 5m and the problem I face which I'm sure many others do, is not being up to date with technical jargon I find myself jumping from one system to another. Everytime I read something new my head explodes!

p.s.can I incorporate my Quad 11L speakers in with this or should leave these seperate

Hi Salmo,

Not knowing how far you sit from the screen, and therefore what size screen you are looking for, I can do no more than recomend my set-up. A pioneer PDP-428XD with a Sony Dav-is10 surround sound system. Idoit proof (thats why I've got it!) and excellent on the eyes and ears.

Carefull online shopping should get you both of these for around £2000.
