Anyone know when my Amstrad will get this please?

I find Sky's website annoyingly slow and hard to find what you need.

Cheers.

Had the new EPG for a week or so now, mixed reception in our household. Fewer channels per page of the guide (6 instead of 10) and a much busier screen being the main gripes from the female contingent. I wouldn't get too uptight if you haven't got it - it's not really life changing stuff. Adding ITV HD via the back door (see exisitng thread) is much more significant. Could this have been done 'pre' new EPG?

My dad got his envelope middle of last week. 2 days later, new EPG appears.

I had a Pace box recalled and they replaced it with a Samsung, shame really loved the Pace box. Any Idea when the new EPG will be available for Samsung Box. Note: the Samsung has better sound quality compared to the Pace and Thompson Boxes.

At last the new EPG arrived and ITV HD successfully added

According to someone I know who works for Sky if you do not have the new EPG it is now downloadible via a forced frmware update.

Had my new EPG for two days and I have to say I hate it. The old one was beautifully simplistic compared to this one and the new one seems slower to respond to instructions from the remote. Other moans are that the delete option for recorded programmes seems to disappear for no reason and it's now much slower to skip past the ads when watching recorded progs by adding 5 mins to the 'last viewed' bit. Its not so bad that i'll be cancelling my subs but it does seem like a compicated step back. If it aint broke......

Got the EPG last night when I got home (perfect timing for the footy!), apart from adding ITV HD I haven't really played around with it that much. It does seem to be overtly complicated, and the decrease in number of on screen channels is a bit of a pain.

I seem to remember back in the mists of time that when What Hi-Fi originally reported the new EPG, someone from Sky mentioned you could remove the preview screen in the top-right hand corner and get back your ten channels on screen. Might be worth playing round with the settings if this is something annoying you.

On face value they've copied some of the functionality that NTL/Virgin has, particularly for scrolling through channels/times when you're watching a channel full screen. When I had Sky HD installed (around September last year) I remember the engineer saying he'd already got the new EPG and hated it, only time will tell on my own opinion.

Eh howie:compared to this one and the new one seems slower to respond to instructions from the remote. . I do have to agree with you here, i do kind of like the new EPG probably due to "havnt a choice" about it but i did prefer the old one, maybe over time ill get more used to it, i hope.

The one thing i do like about it is the series stack this feature is more convenient as with the old EPG they were scattered around, im sure more features will grow on me.

"give it time jase me old lad" !!

In my opinion the 2 obvious improvements are :-

1. while watching tv you can now select the 'i' button and get information on any program by scrolling through 'now and next' bar for all channels, whereas you could only previously do 'i' on the channel you were watching.

2. whilst in 'tv guide' you can continue watching the channel you were on, or watch any channel currently showing, instead of the rubbish Sky Tv Guide music that used to happen, so you never miss a thing.

As said in another reply, if you don't like the smaller selection of channels listed in the 'tv guide' - 6 as opposed to previous 10, then select the option not to show the preview screen and you then get 11 channels listed along with the audio from the channel you were watching, so again this is an improvement.

I like it.

I love it (though him indoors is still grumbling about it not being as quick as the old one...).

My favourite points:

1) Ability to record from TV Guide (which then shows you've got something recorded, in case you've forgotten) without it then going to Planner and you having to back-up to return to Guide.

2) Ability to Series Link when you hit record (the 'Record Once/Record Series' pop-up menu) - again, so much quicker and more direct than previously

3) Ability (under options) to have all native HD programmes highlighted in orange - allows you to, for example, spot all the new HD episodes of The Simpsons on Sky One HD straight away!

4) Mini TV allows you to do some good browsing/recording/Planner-tidying during live broadcast ad breaks, without missing restart of the show

5) ITV HD. Suddenly, football is watchable on ITV!

Sorry to see that a day which started so well for you ended so badly. Lipreading (Drogba) in HD was much easier though.

Sorry (again) couldn't resist - LFC fan
