Hi,

I'm just looking for a quick bit of advice really...

I was due to buy the Samsung LE40M87BD from Beyond Television for £695 today, but after buying the latest issue of the mag I saw you had the new Samsung 6 series featured inside with a mini review/preview. After investigating a little more today, I found out that the Dixons group stores were selling the 5 series on their websites with an introductory price.

What I'm curious to know is whether or not it's worth paying the extra £100-200 for the new 5 series as opposed to the M87, or are the improvements to the set unworthy of the extra pocket change?

What I've worked out so far in terms of their differences are;

* Contrast Ratio is now 30,000 as opposed to 15,000
* Response time improved from 8ms to 5ms

Both sets are still 1080p, 24fps, super clear panel, etc, etc.

Are both of the improvements worth the additional cash and did you guys notice any differences with the motion handling due to the reduced response time? Can you still do 1080p over VGA?

Also did the black/colours look better with the increased ratio (even though Samsung probably exaggerated as usual)?

Are the any other improvements or changes I've missed?

Sorry for the never ending life story but in a nutshell I purchased the 40" 5 series today because it was the last chance I had to use the voucher code before it expired. However if it just isn't worth the extra money, I'll quite happily cancel before it’s delivered and settle for the M87.

Much appreciated,
Marvin
