New Mission CD transport

For no obvious reason I find this new transport looks nicely functional and practical. The new Quad, from the same stable, looks neat too. Do they appeal to anyone else?

Hope to see them both next month at the Bristol show. Not that I need any more playing devices, but no harm in being interested!

I quite like the look but don't think I will ever use a CD transport, an SACD transport on the other hand..........

Nice, I share your sentiment, if it had a SACD compatible transport, I'll definitely consider purchasing.
Shanling seems to be one of the few manufacturers, other than Sony supporting SACD.

Yes, I have my eyes on a Shanling transport should my Oppo ever fail.

Apologies for the duplicated post, something weird going on with my mobile!

It certainly appeals to me but was a little too late to the party.

Back when I was looking at a new amp and CD player I was certainly looking at the Mission amp but the matching CD player (I like my components to match) was nowhere to be seen. Mission did confirm to me one would follow but could not give a timeframe so in the end I opted for the Marantz PM7000N and CD6007.

I am a fan of the form factor (having had many Cyrus products in the past) and I like the styling, so if I was in need of another system I would certainly be interested.

It's cute. Small form format gives you a lot of flexibility if you're really tight for space.

I remember seeing a Cyrus Discmaster and Dacmaster in a hifi shop in the mid 90's and asking why a CD player needed two boxes. I think it was the first time I ever heard the word DAC.

I probably never thought about again until got a new CD player around 2000 which had a digital output. Not that I ever used it as my CD player has a good DAC.

The idea of a CD transport makes so much sense these days as so many AMPs have DACs and lots of people have external ones. Its certainly something I would consider if I found myself needing a CD player.

Indeed, a nice match possibly to my NAIT50(s) 😀 dimensions side by side;

NAIT 50
Height: 8.7 cm / 3.37 inches
Width: 20.7 cm / 8.12 inches
Depth: 32.1 cm / 12.62 inches
Weight: 4.5 kg / 9.9 lbs

Mission CDT
Width: 236 mm
Height: 96 mm
Depth: 357 mm

Had a great Jazz CD session Saturday and the streamer was not switched on once 👍
Streaming for me are for lazy listening;
.....................................CD's are for serious listening;
.....................................................and Hi-Res DSD on my NAS/Network are for intense listening sessions.

Hopefully when all households have 1 gb broadband, Spotify and the ilk will start giving us DSD quality music streaming services option but that's my wish and not reality.

A CD Transport is the only extra thing I could consider adding to my system but I just can't justify it. I literally *just* found a crate with 200+ of my favourite CDs in the loft - they've been there for fifteen years.

I don't consider streaming to be lazy or a diluted experience, so transitioning back to a space where I have a bunch of extra physical media to sort through which I could otherwise stream is out of kilter with how my brain works. Vinyl feels like a different and tactile experience. It's almost certainly a contradiction that I'm selectively embracing, but CDs for me just don't have that feel.

Which is a shame, as there are lots of half-width CD players / transports which are quite appealing 😆
