New crossover for PMC fact12?

Hi,

I have a pair of PMC fact12 speakers which I bought about 10 years ago and which I am very happy with. They are also one of the few floorstanders which will fit in the available space. I saw that it is possible to have a new crossover installed by my hi-fi dealer which should bring the old model up to the standard of the Signature fact12.

I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has done this.

Thanks.

These are very rare indeed, due mostly to their price. But you may get lucky. They are extremely narrow.

What do PMC charge, as a matter of interest? (I recall an enjoyable afternoon listening to the .8 models some years ago, with expensive NAIM amplifiers, at a dealer demo.)

I guess, even if you could compare, you have to determine if that’s the best way to spend the money, as opposed to electronics or room treatment, for example.

PS. I wouldn’t normally direct you to another forum, but post #11 here might be helpful.

Hi,

Thanks for the link; that was useful.

I think the new crossovers cost in the region of £4k which is not negligeable but cheaper than buying new Signatures.

You're a master of understatement 😉

For sure (but so is buying a decent car 🙂)

Another poster has found PMC to be too bright.
I'm guessing that's not a problem with your model.
£4k for a pair of crossovers???
Someone is having a laugh.
I'd expect upgraded drivers to be included for that price although, from what I read, the only thing that has changed is the components of said crossovers and a choice of finishes.
They are said to measure exactly the same......
Stick with what you currently have would be my suggestion
