Hi all, I'm in need of new speaker cable, going from my PM6004 to me Monitor Audio BX5s.

I need a length of 5m and a length of 8m (sorry it's just not possible for me to use same length pairs.)

I'm looking at Van Damme cables, so just a few questions :

At these lengths, would I want to choose the 2mm or 4mm thickness cable?

What is the difference between the 'hi fi' branded VDM cable, and just the cable in the 'audio cable' section? You can see from this page that there is a hifi link separately http://www.vdctrading.com/shop/van-damme-cable/

What are the differences between the blue, and black versions of their speaker cable?

Thanks!

I would use the 4mm myself, I use it on my front three and my lengths are shorter.

A bit cheaper here.

The audio cable section is cable is not speaker cable.

it is the UP-LCOFC shotgun style.

Ah right.

From my reading, it seems that most people have gone for the Blue cable over the 'shotgun' style.

Which would you recommend ? Are there benefits in having the shotgun style over the cable style?

The Shotgun UP-LCOFC uses the ultra pure cable.

Taken from the PDF doc:

Shotgun construction for easy conductor separation & identification
• Speaker cables have ultra fine 0.10mm conductors with 7 way plait construction to minimise the skin effect
• Ultra pure oxygen free copper for outstanding sonic integrity

I and others find this to be an excellent cable.
