Netflix App sound problem

Hi there, it's been a long time since I posted on here, hope you are all well.

I have a Panasonic Smart TV with built in Netflix app. The picture is great but my problem is with sound. As the TV has no phono and my Cyrus amp has no Optical input, I have connected the TV to the amp via optical digital cable into a mini DAC.

All sounds well apart from with the Netflix app where it's just distorted 'machine gun' noise. I've tried all the settings I can see on the TV menu but nothing seems to work; anyone know what might be happening and how it can be fixed?

My guess is that you're source (Netflix) is encoded in a multi-channel mix that's subsequently being output from the optical out of your TV in multi-channel that (presumably) your stereo-only DAC can't decode.

Two ways around this.

1. Get a modern AV receiver that can decode multi-channel sources (not the best solution for you I would imagine) or...

2. Try investigating the set-up menu of Netflix settings or your TV's settings. What you're aiming for is to output from your optical out of your TV in stereo PCM rather than bitstream. That ought to enable your DAC to understand the code and send a more intelligible result to your amp.
