Need advice on selecting a low-end amp

Im going to get myself an entry level home cinema receiver and what i want to know is who i should choose?

Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer or maybe even Sony?

I need a minimum of 4 hdmi ports.

How it performs for movies is not my main focus but i am looking for the most musical one in 2 channel mode.

Pre-out would be a nice bonus but not a deal breaker at all.

Optical and coax inputs ofcourse and im going to hook an older cd player to it via digital connectio so if it has a semi-decent dac it would be nice but not a deal breaker either.

So to sum up: The most musical of the entry level models with minimum of 4 hdmi ports

Sony STR DH 800 has 4hdmi inputs and is 7.1 capable. Available at Richersounds for £239 I believe.

I have the older STR DG820 and its fantastic for the cash! Not the best for 2 channel music though.

Your going to struggle at the bottom end of the market, even high end AV amps at £1000+ are not perfect with music

I found the Denon 1910 to be quite decent with music.

Thats one recomendation for the Denon. I doubt the 1911 will be any worse than your 1910
