naim external power supply

this is a question (i've never owned naim till now) that i have in my mind for ages!! when an external p.s. like Flat-Cap, Hi-Cap or Super-Cap is used for example with a supernait is the internal one bypassed ? how does this thing with external power supply units work with naims?

The external power supply powers the preamp section of the amplifier, leaving the onboard supplies to look after the power amp.

And in the case of the SN the power to the DAC is also taken over by the external supply. SuperNait owners rave about the difference that a HiCap makes. If you look on Naim's website at the HiCap, then they link in to a review which was specifically looking at adding the HiCap to a SN. It's my next major upgrade, as soon as I save enough £ saved up.
