My system comprises of : Pioneer LX5090, LX81receiver , MA RS8 front end,RS LCR, RSW12,RS1 rears,Thorens 150 turntable,Chord active HDMI,Chord silver 1.3HDMI,Atlas Hyper BI-wire, QED Silver Ann XT, TCI Coral Digital Optical, QED Guinex SUB ,QED Mains 6 way Hub.Sky-Hd plus . Mind blowing picture and sound. From sky HDMI routed to TV ,Optical from sky routed to Lx81 for 5.1 everything works okay. To handle HD Audio and other sound formats should one have a HDMI Connection from SKY to LX81 and from Lx 81 to LX5090. Any comments please.

Sky doesn't broadcast any of the HD audio formats and in fact, the HDMI cable can only transmit stereo, not Dolby Digital because of a limitation in the Sky box. So you're best off as you are currently with an optical lead into your amp.
