Nice clean setup BB, you must be one of the first people to have a full Atmos enabled system at home. Good to have the choice of TV/Projector but I suspect the TV will be used less and less? Slightly surprised you have ditched your favoured Yamaha AV receiver for Marantz, but change keeps things interesting I guess!

I am moving to an apartment with ceiling speakers already installed so thinking of going down the Atmos route myself, been looking at the Kef Ci200RR-THX speakers.

Thanks! Yes, I went for the Marantz eventually. I wanted a 7.1.4 system which only Yamaha RX-A3040 could do, and it costs twice as much as the Marantz.

If ceiling speakers are already installed, check if their placement is suitable for Atmos. Also, your surrounds should be at around ear level for true Atmos experience.

thanks BB and robin for the tips. I think i will go back to the in walls for the surround now. regarding the sofa, I think it will be easy to just shift it away from the wall a little, but it will depend on the other half etc.

Just one more question BB, do you get much sound leakage from the in walls into adjacent rooms?

There's no room adjoining the living room. The house is detached. It's either the outside wall or the hallway or downstairs toilet behind the wall.

If you're worried about sound leakage, look at Monitor Audio Controlled Performance series of speakers with sealed back boxes.

BB. You must be so happy with the end result.

I had to alter my planning, so my cinema room will be about 15x13. It won't be a no compromise HC as it will/mey be a bedroom.

Ive already bought my speakers, active 2 x AVI DM10 & 4 x DM5 all in rosewood and I'll use my AVI sub. I wasn't aware of grey screens so will look out for them.

I guess the things I need to incorporate into the initial build are loads of sockets, the lighting and additional soundproofing. I'll prob get a specialist in to help with setup.

Hi BB, do you mind telling me what height you've mounted your speakers at? If you can just let me know the height of the top of the speakers are, that'll be great. I take it you're happy with the height?

thanks again.

The top of the speakers is 1.55m from the floor. Ideally, they should be at ear level but I centralised the fronts according to the TV and the surrounds just above the sofa at a comparable height as the fronts.

Thanks! Good luck with your build!! Do a lot of planning in advance. Speak to people to gather ideas.

Can i ask a serious question BB i am a bit puzzled about the location of your ceiling speakers, i've noticed that your speakers are either side of the screen (left and right) and not directly above (center), i am just wondering why you chose to have it this way and is it better, and do you think a center ceiling speaker would sound even better (5.1.5).

For example if i had a house with a chimney i would continue that chimney design on the ceiling and have a less stereo seperation built in directly above me. -i hope that makes sence.

That's how Dolby advises:

Would Auro 3D configuration suit you better?

Hi

How are you getting on with the Roomie Remote ? I've had a look at teir websire and it looks really good.

Do you rely on the IP control or have you got one of their IR adapters ? I see that all my preferred devices are supported via IP, except for the Sony HW40 which is probably not that important anyway.

Wow! Now that's something I never even imagined!! *clapping*

I'm currently thinking about doing all the doors in my house like that now :) I should stop the wine and the internet otherwise I'll end up never being able to find my bedroom if I did it :)

Bb. Have you sorted the 3d. The HW40 is top of my list so I have been reading the manual. I note you can add a 3d transmitter (plug in) if 3d signal is no good.

Is this something you've needed to do ?

Yes 3D is sorted. Basically, I had connected an ethernet cable to the port on the Sony. This is meant to be the port for an external 3D transmitter which I didn't realise. As soon as I disconnected it, 3D works brilliantly.

I've got 3D3 A1111 glasses which are superb and work both for TV (Bluetooth) and projector (IR). You can get the slightly cheaper A1113 which is IR only.
