multi channel pcm sound v DD orDTS ?

Hello

I have a question

I play a Toshiba hd-e1 and a htpc through my onkyo 605 and both show significant drop in volume level when playing either true hd or uncompressed pcm, multichannel pcm. I thought true hd etc would sound better than DD orDTS but I have to say i don't hear much difference even with vloume increased when using pcm or true hd.

Am i doing something wrong or is that just the way it is ?

will it improove when I get propper true hd transfer via hdmi ?

How are you connecting the Toshiba to the Onkyo at the moment?

The Toshiba is connected via hdmi only and the pc is connected via hdmi(video) and coax for audio.

volume and quality are not the same thing. yes you may need to turn the volume knob. If you are connected with an HDMI and you have the Tosh set up right then thats it.
