Hello Everyone,

Seriously considering buying these speakers after seeing a "must have" deal. After a bit of a journey of discovery with a friend recently concerning stereo amps I am convinced that I MUST have a half decent stereo set up myself.

If you view my kit list below you'll see I already have an AV set-up. My questions are these:

1/ I am tempted to go the whole MS Performance route for a 7.1 system for AV and stereo, replacing the speakers below. Would my current electronics for AV be good enough?

2/ Suggestions for a stereo amp and CD player to run the 6's. Seen good deals on the Marantz Pearlite pair, would these do these speakers justice?

3/ If I swapped out the Denon kit for the Marantz 7055, 7025 and prepower would this be a worthwhile upgrade and integrate well with the above pearl kit?

4/ An ideal world would see the 6's being used as fronts for the AV and being able to be used in stereo from a seperate stereo amp and cd player for music.

5/ last scenario would see me keeping all of the MA and Denon kit for AV duties only and just getting some seperate stereo kit for the 6's - suggestions?

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. I'm in Saudi so demos are impossible here. Will be in the UK in January and have been in touch with Richer Sounds and they have a pair of the 6's in Bristol so I'm planning a demo of those in stereo there. Suggestions for amps to listen to with them?

Many thanks

Cameron.

The Performance 6's are very good but they need careful matching. I think Claire ( the Editor) still has a set so hopefully she will answer. I would strongly suggest a demo if you can. Good as the Pearl Lite pairing is they will not really do the speaker justice. I would be looking at the PM15 level as a minimum for these speakers and even then I think that would be pushing it.

What attracts you to the 6's - is it the look or have you heard them before?

If I'm honest the look and the price (serious reduction in a shop local to me), most reviews say good things, also notice that Claire has them and raves about them.

As a first foray into the world of 2ch hifi they seem an ideal choice. Realistically what sort of money do I need to spend on an amp and Cd player to start getting the best from them?
