Hi

I hope you can help. I purchased the Marantz M - CR610 a few months back and I have to say that I'm very pleased with it. I play it through a set of Q Acoustic speakers. Although the display panel is comparitively small and is just about visible from my armchair, I use the Marantz App from my Samsung Tablet and I find it rather 'flakey' to say the least.

I'm no expert on these issues so please excuse my ignorance. My question is this : If I hooked up my Marantz to my TV via a digital optical cable, would the display be visible on my TV whereby I could use the remote control to access my music and settings etc.? Or is the digital optical feature exclusively for sound only?

Thanks in advance.

Where's the music coming from that you're playing on the Marantz? I agree the App is dreadful, but if you're streaming music from a NAS you should try using the NAS supplier's App. I use a Synology NAS to store my music and the DS Audio App works well for controlling music on the Marantz. Only thing it can't do is select Internet Radio stations, for that you need to use the Marantz. Or just have all your favourite radio stations as presets and flick through them with the remote control.

Thanks Neil

I don't use any Network Attached Storage or Cloud application - I can't afford to after buying the Marantz media player! All I have is an external hard drive plugged into the Marantz by the USB port. I have lots of media files/albums (flac, mp3, wav etc.) downloaded onto the hard drive in individual folders so I can click into any folder, choose the first file - press the 'random' feature if so desired and sit back and listen.

I guess I'll just have to get some super vision glasses so I can see the display from the comfort of my armchair! Thanks anyway.
