or any other subs I should be looking at ?

IMO. Unless you are prepared to drop around 1500 GBP on a Sub...I'd go with a BK.
I would strongly disagree with this statement. There are some amazing subwoofers from SVS, MA, Arendal, XTZ and Velodyne at around £500 to £1500 range.

.....and I totally respect your opinion.

To flesh out my thinking a little - if you can't afford Subs like:

- SVS PB 13 Ultra

- Velodyne SPL 1000 Ultra

- Paradigm Seismic 110

- JL Audio ESub 10

....then the BK is good enough at covering the performance up to that level, that you may as well pocket the saving.

The problem with all these excellent subs, is they are from the USA, which makes them really expensive due to the weakness of the Pound....it wasn't that long ago, that they were around the 1100-1200GBP price tag, rather than the 1500-1700 one. The BK subs haven't seen this type of increase.

BK Subs perform way above their price range and are made in this country, with no third party adding to the price....and I would always recommend a sealed sub, which can make the sub more expensive - and preferably from a specialist sub maker....which makes the BK Subs hard to beat by anything from The States at half similar money.
there are online companies that sell the SVS subs in the U.K. So no need to import but your right about the BK subs they do look good and seem to be well made and look good quality and a specially I like the fact that BK made the early RAL subs which I think about 10 years more ago I probably brought my RAL thinking it was made by them but really it was a BK sub made for RAL .

so thanks for the link last night I do like the fact I can buy one in walnut Verne which will match my speakers and there top sub cost around £667 which for the same spec on a Dali sub is £899 and the Dali one is not sealed it's ported .

All the subs I've listed are available in the UK....but have seen costs increase by 20%+ over the last while.....I think I paid around 1150 for my Velodyne SPL1200...which are now 1675 (all be it for a very slightly improved model)

REL (not RAL) do make decent subs and are a specialist brand, but IIRC are owned by a US company (since about 2006)....also MJ Acoustics make decent subs, but are sold through a dealer:

Nb. Bk's most expensive Sub is the Monolith....which is ported....but it's pretty big.

The BKs look nice but I want to buy a SVS SB-2000 Subwoofer which costs £799 it's a 500watt sealed subwoofer and even though it cost more then a BK it's a power house of a sub for films

An excellent choice.....one of the best for the money.

Richard Edmund Lord sadly passed away last week. The REL factory in Bridgend, South Wales, is still going strong. I have been on a factory tour there. Wonderful people to deal with.

i have ended up buying the Rel T71 today £50 saving of the asking price
Interesting that you've gone for an 8 inch 200W subwoofer instead of a 12 inch 500W SB2000 for the same price. Aesthetics?
I had a demo today at richer sounds and it sounded pretty good if it's no good at home I can take it back but it did sound ok in store and the fact it's not massive like the Dali one I was looking at which had hardly any settings on the back of it. .

I share BB's concern.

The cost of the Rel is 850....so I assume you got it for 800....which is the same price as the SB2000.

Also, the BK XLS 200 has a more powerful Amp (275W vs 200W); has a bigger driver (10" [Peerless] vs 8"); goes deeper (17 Hz vs 30 Hz @ -6dB) and cheaper for the Gloss Black (395 vs 800).

It's your money and your decision, but do give this some thought, as expediancy may not be the right way to go.

Ok. Sorry, it's 10 inches not 8.

The frequency response at low end only goes to 30Hz, whereas the SVS goes down to a very impressive 19Hz.

See what you think when you set it up at home. *good*

I could be wrong, but I think it has an 8" Driven Woofer and a 10" passive radiator.

Any 12" acoustic suspension options on the market?
