Is there some place where newbies to the hi-fi world can learn all there is to learn about hi-fis. Less in terms of brand but more in terms of understanding the various components, all hi-fi jargon, how to evaluate stuff, how does stuff like bi-wiring, bi-amping work. Stuff related to hi-fi basically. Sometimes, when reading through some of the posts out here, a lot of stuff goes whoosh OHT !! So any reading resources would be of immense help.

Google!
World-wide-web is full of great resources. Google anything you wanna know about. You'll get more than what you can read.
Take everything you read with a pinch of salt. People write what "they" know. It need not always be an "expert opinion". With a bit of caution, however, you'll be able to tell between wheat and chaff.

Thanks man ! I did it, I am just wanting something you guys have read about and know that is swell. Most of the site google throws up is tied to equipment reviews and there is a big bias there. I am looking for some non-equipment based neutral stuff, if you know what i mean

I own this book:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Hi-Fi-Handbook-Ian-Sinclair/dp/0750649755

It's pretty cool. Perhaps a bit deep for your needs but it's all in there...

We have a glossary in most issues of the magazine, plus there are a range of 'How to' features on here (just type How to into the search tab above and you should find a selection.)

In addition, when we revamp the site next year, we'll have an expanded How To section that should answer a lot more questions.

In the meantime, don't be afraid to ask - we're happy to help.

I think it would be a nice Xmas gift for WHFS&V to send all members of the forum this guide to hi-end hifi.

Anyone agree? Clare? Andrew?
