I'm foolhardy enough to put my neck on the line more than is probably sensible.

I'm not sure whether I have absorbed Cno's enthusiasm for them, but the R300s and R500s are the lead runners in my current upgrade fantasy after I get myself a new amp and source.

I suppose I am in a way.....though it's more toward the R Series / LS50s. The Refs are great, but at that price have some very serious competition.
I generally don't buy into hype, but very occasionally a product comes along that actually deserves it.

It usually comes down to what you have within reasonable driving distance.
plastic penguin said:Well have a company called Unilet who stock Kef, PMC, ProAc, B&W, Wilson Benesch... and another in the same catchment area who are the Rega dealers and PMC and B&W.
The list seems daunting: PMCs probably TB2, B&W 805S and Kef R300. These are the ones I've deffo earmarked.
The Totems are sadly off the list only because the Totem dealer does Harbeth and very hi-end stuff that's way beyond my budget and amp.

It's a good list, and I suspect you will find one of them rises to the top when you start listening........the thought of the process is often worse than actually going through it.

PMC: TB2i, GB1i, Twenty 21, ProAc D1, D2, Kef R300, B&W 805S. That's a lot of demoing from one dealer and dealer patience. Somehow the list needs to be reduced to make it plausible.

Probably best to do in 2 or 3 visits and in the week rather than weekends, book 2 hour demo. Dealers should not be bothered how else are they going to sell stuff? If they put a customer off then how knows how much business they will lose? Give good service and you wil probably keep coming back. To cut down I would cut out 2 of the PMCs.
