Yeah, each panel will be slightly different in any case - whatever you're happy with is what matters!

Hi LG50PK350 owners,

Im enjoying my tv great with blu rays and sport, however on using white wash i have noticed three dead/stuck pixels two red and one green. As the screen is 72 hours old should i worry??

Have any of the other owners got dead/stuck pixels?

Tried 'em in an unlit room - at 11pm, no streetlights outside - and skin tones had a yellowish hue and the overall image seemed flat

Horses for...

FWIW, here're my current settings (which probably break all the rules
emotion-10.gif
):

Expert 1

Aspect: Just Scan

Energy: Off

Contrast: 95

Brightness: 53

H Sharp': 35

V Sharp': 35

Colour: 56

Tint: 0

Dynamic contrast: Low

Gamma: Med'

Black level: Low

Colour Gamut: Standard

Edge enhancer: Off

Colour Temp': Warm

All other settings: 0

With the above, IMO skin tones are natural while other colours are punchy; blacks are deep(ish); shadows/contrast appropriately dramatic; there's a decent sense of depth/3D; motion is impressive. However, I'm not getting the best from shadow detail.

With the contrast set to 95 you will kill the grayscale. Not having this particular TV, I dare recommend to set both brightness and contrast to 60-70 %.

Yeah, you will get "white crush" and there will most likely be quite strong red tinting around 90% on this particular set - but some people prefer the "pop" you get with high contrast settings even if it means losing shadow/highlight detail. As long as you're happy with your picture that's all that matters really!

To Se7en: Persevere with the stuck pixels for a while, if you can leave the screen on "colour wash" for a few hours it may help. Quite a few people experienced stuck pixels with these latest LG screens but found they fixed themselves over the first couple of hundred or so hours use in many cases! Don't let it go out of warranty just in-case though!

Constant 95% on contrast will also shorthen the life of the TV set, not by months but by years.

PeterHerz, out of interest, how/why does 95% contrast shorten a TV's life?

To bring a thread from the dead!

I tried all of the settings in the thread tonight and found this to be the best for me.

i am still waiting for my thx glasses so will see if i prefer that even more.

Love this TV, watched the Dark Knight tonight and really enjoyed it.

I have never been a massive film lover but this tv plus new set-up may just change that

Thanks for the input guys
