Hopefully there are some Elements users out there who can help with a little problem I have.

I have a Leema Elements Integrated Amp with DAC fitted. I am having trouble using the AV mode input. I have assigned AV mode to Input 1 and connected it to the PreOut on my AV amp. The first time I use AV mode it correctly works. However if I change input then the fixed gain is not correctly set.

Here is what happens:

1) Turn on Elements and configure Input 1 as AV.

2) Press AV on remote control.

3) Elements switches to Input 1 and volume ramps up to 127.

4) Press 7 on remote to switch to Optical 1.

5) Elements switches to Optical 1 and volume drops to 30.

6) Press AV on remote control.

7) Elements switches to Input 1 but volume stays at 30.

Turning the Elements on and off again does not fix problem.

Your Leema in step 1 to 3 is doing the right thing, as you program the intput as AV input, so the amp ramps the volume to 127 to be used as power amp and the AV will serve as pre amp for the front L and R channels.

That's right, but if I change the Leema input to Optical 1 then back to AV, the volume does not return to 127 as it should. I can only get AV to work again by disabling and re-enabling AV mode in the setup menu.

I'm not familiar with your Leema, but do you need to save the setting on the input for AV in some way, to stop it reverting back?

No save function that I can see.

Just to clarify I'm not trying to use AV mode for Optical 1 only for Input 1.

@HiFiOutlaw - yes it sounds awesome of course, the LS50s are in a totally different leageue to the "eggs".

I was just checking the Leema manual, and this is what it says:

"When an input assigned as AV Direct is selected, the volume setting defaults to a low level and then slowly rises to a pre-set unity gain point. Great care should be taken when using the AV DIRECT menu editor, since an excessive volume level could easily result. However, unlike other systems, the volume control on the Leema system is still active and can be adjusted away from the pre- set point as a safety feature. The AV DIRECT function can be assigned to any individual analogue input.

Selecting another input on the Elements Integrated Amplifier and then re-selecting the AV DIRECT enabled input, will reset the unity gain point."

Where it says "will reset the gain point" - is the key but its not clear. Reset it to what?

I'll try to give them a call on Monday, otherwise this whole PreOut to AV is a non-starter.

The way I see it "it will reset the gain point" on the previous input. For exemple if you assign AV to input number 1, and want to change to input 2, it will reset the gain on input 1, and the automatic gain will be in input 2.
