My friend has bought the KEF wall brackets that are made for the IQ10 speakers...

But it doesn't come with the screws to use when you screw the bracket into the speaker cabinet (yes, I can't believe it either...[:O]) Yet it is supplied with the wall fixings!!!

Anyway, has anyone done this, and what length screw did you use into the speaker cabinet?

Thanks....

Hi,

Is this the bracket? Click

If the manual doesn't mention what screw size I would say best solution is measure how deep is the hole on the cabinet. Just take a pin and mark how deep it goes.

From the measured depth use the closest screw length you can find, ie: measured 12mm, look for 10mm length. From the hole type on bracket it looks like you need to use counter screw type. And I suppose the thread hole on the cabinet runs on metric unit as usage of wrong unit screw will damage either the screw or thread.

That's the bracket, yes.....

But only the earlier versions of this speaker came with pre drilled holes. The later models, like my friends, dont have pre drilled holes, so its a case of 'do-it-yourself'!!!!

But without knowing the thickness of the cabinet, I don't know what size screw to use!!! Or how far to drill....

Thanks anyway....

Sorry mate misunderstood your question..

Need to DIY holes? That's a bit risky.

I wouldn't do it myself if I were your friend. Possible to ask advice from local hifi shop? I think they would do it for you with little charge.

Sorry can't provide much help.

Are you sure about that? The holes get covered over by the vinyl wrap, they might not be immediately visible but they should be there! Run your fingers over the area at the back, you should be able to find them.

You might be onto something, the_lhc....

He has reserved the speakers and is picking them up tomorrow...but when he reserved them he looked at the pair on display and saw no holes....

But I reckon you might be right thinking they are there, just under the vinyl wrap.

He has the wall brackets already and was worried cos it doesn't seem to come with any screws to use to attached the speaker to it....

I guess we will find out tomorrow after collection...

Thanks...

All sorted...pick speakers up, and they have screw holes....

My friend emailed KEF, and the response was that if no holes were visiable, there would be two threaded ones down the spine of the back of the speaker, and if you trace your finger down, you would be able to locate them......

So why on the online manual do they shown a diagram with a 3 mm drill bit????Also why does the KEF IQ10 wall brackets have four other screw holes?

Bizzare.......

Thanks for replies anyway.....
