jvc television going into standby mode

Hi all my first time asking a question. My jvc LT-42P80BU television is going into standby mode,there is no picture or sound and i can't use the remote.I have to turn the television off at the mains and turn it on again,but then it comes on and again goes into standby mode.
Can anybody help me out.

Sounds like a failing component - something that shuts down as soon as it begins to warm up. I think a call to JVC for some service advice is your best course of action.
