Just got the samsung es8000 which hdmi lead

I still don't get it... Why spend over twenty pounds when an HDMI cable costing half as much is just as good ? Truth be told an HDMI costing around about one fith of the price is just as good... so WHY spend extra ... is it just because you can or you feel that in your own head you HAVE to spend more ? Is it elitism ? or .... ? (genuinly interested as the same thing can be said of speaker cables)

i found the pearl to be good for the money.i have a wire world chroma 6 at the moment which i love and i thougt it was a big step up from the pearl.i wont be upgrading again coz this one is perfict for my system, but if i change my set up ill have to find a new hdmi that fits well with it.have you tried the peal

Spending more becomes important especially over longer distances. However other things must be taken into account when buying a cable.

1. build quality of the cable

2. connection - does it fit into the port without movement

3. If embedding into walls, invest properly

I have found that cheaper cables sometimes pop out of ports too easily, a more expensive cable (say the pearl) has a better connection and is durable, especially if you are constantly pulling out cables, like me 🙂

I hate this whole cable thing.just buy whatever cables you think your system deserves.i have the oppo 103 and am waiting for delivery of my Panasonic zt65 I am going to connect the whole lot with audio quest carbon and to be honest if I could afford audio quest diamond I would buy them .connecting a 4grand tv with a 5quid Argos hdmi cable is just nuts.

Well, my £6500 system (not counting the furniture) is connected with £5 HDMI cables. Being able to afford and justifying the spend based on performance are entirely different things.

I suppose this is old news...?? 😛
