The white cones, aluminium feet and American white oak all combine to create a very clean, modern and very desirable looking speaker! IMO the best looking so far!
The cones are s pale golden pink colour, made from magnesium, my quick photo made them look white, this photographer lark is an art. Thanks for the kind comments.

Just thought I would share the Technology behind veneering with a vacuum press, My Air Press vacuum pump Kitin action, it generates around 85% vacuum. As atmospheric pressure is about 10 tonnes per square metre, this means that a pressure of 8.5 tonnes per square metre is being exerted on everything inside the bag hence we get a perfect flat veneer! Rolls Royce have around £350K worth of these to build dash and door cappings. If it's good enough for them ....... It can even bend plywood around a former.

We apply D3 X polymer veneer glue, pop in the bag, (the trickiest bit*pardon*) and leave it running for about 30 mins, then its ready to router the edge. And on to the next side. Veneer store on the wall, carpet on the bench to protect the delicate MDF during manufacture.

Hypex modules ordered 2 x UcD180 HxR with matching PSU SMPS400A180 just to see how good they sound and then try and compare with the NC400 which are 300 euros a pop the UcD180 are 100 euros. If the sound is good enough put it all together in a sexy case, I have this vision of using the blue LED's to shine though glass rods petruding from the top of the case valve like![/b]

(ill get Mrs Boggit to make one and if she can follow my instrutions well anybody can, it will also be the a first if she follows my instructions!*man_in_love*

Hi Colin. :)

I was just wondering about what safety regs you need to pass before they can be sold to the public. What's the process and what needs to be done?

Do you need to get them checked and 'signed off' by someone else first or are you going to self certify (and what qualifications would you need to have if you self certify)?

After the disapointment of not getting the NC500 based amp working, cases and the solid aluminium 44mm feet have arrived have started arriving. Day off so I've built the UcD400 based amp, first with one PSU then added a second. Marked improvment with the additionl PSU. The connectors for the Ncore NC500 PSU's later so will be wiring those up later.

(spent about half an hour on my original post lost. Is it Win 10? or this shity forum software?)

Anyway cases and bits have started to arrive for the Hypex amp builds. The feet are solid aluminium 44mm dia and look great. The front runner for the cases are an Italian manufacture who offer consistant quality supply in different sizes and in silver and black. Spare parts are available, quick shipping and good pricing. If anybody knows a UK manufacture that would be better still. The plan is to mill them adding bespoke design panache, possibly offering a veneer inlay option. I'm thinking brand name of "nord" Norweigian for North, my surname and in referance to Abrahamsen who helped me start this venture. Hopefully I will be able to continue this fabulous brand in the UK. Anyway he goes some pics.

Cheers ifor I will call them tomorrow to see if they have anything suitable. Looks like they could, but seem to cater for the "electronic enclosure" market no 10mm thick faceplates or possibly widths of 280mm at sensible prices. As I said ill revisit and call them tomorrow would be good if they could.

JST VL connectors arrived all crimped up and connected hey presto, Hypex NCore NC500 Amp all working after a little technical fiddling! Its pretty loud. Next job is to get it into the cases properly install swtches, LED's and run to make sure we have no heat related problems.

Cases arrived from Italy, so its now a question of fitting all the Hypex modules taking many factors into account ready for heat performance trials. If all this pans out, take measurements of the mounting dimensions so I can make up a drawing to replocate using the Digital Read Out (DRO) on the milling machine (Ordered today) The Solid Aluminium feet add a touch of class, the front plate has to wait till the milling machine arrives before we add some bespoke features. Round the back are 60A Gold Plated Brass CHK binding posts, quality items. Oh and the brand name of "nord" Norweigian for North, my surname and a Doff of the Hat to Abrahamsen for getting me started with my first product that remains at the centre of business. And a big thanks to our own Vladamir for the Logo design he did a speedy superb job over the weekend any body want some graphic give him a shout.

Is your logo a varient on the FCUK one.

P O R N ?
I keep looking at the logo now and all I see is P***, I really wish I was that clever to come up with that! Given the reasoning behind the name, Norwegian for North, and iQ selling Norwegian Amps its got a back story, whether to use the FCUK theme? I'm not so sure, kind of funny but I guess we want a serious brand when it comes to HiFi! I guess thats why large companies spend thousands researching all the impications of a brand name.

I'm really sorry if I messed with your head. I probably should have kept quiet once I saw it. *biggrin*

I never thought you had really gone the FCUK route and I actually love the Norwegian North naming, but I did find it amusing.

BTW I am really impressed with both the quality of your work and the volume of different projects you get through.

I was suspicious if Colin is actually Peter North, but now I'm sure. I always wanted to know someone who drives a pornographer's car.
