Just replaced a very old sky receiver with a new digital FTA receiver made by Metronic. Assumed I could get all the 'freesat' channels without problem as I have in the past.. Seems I was wrong, receiver is telling me that all the ITV1 regions, C4 and FIVE are all scrambled.

Am i having a blonde moment or has something changed recently?

Nope. There is FTA versions of all those channels available, though there is also some encrypted versions too.

Can only assume when you set the receiver up it searched for encrypted channels, so either, search/scan for FTA channels only or enter the frequencies manually for the FTA versions of those channels

Hi both Dave's, got the self-same problem - ITV (Channel103) is now unavailable on my Pace box, although ITV's 2,3 & 4 are all ok. No problem normally, but with the World Cup coming up.......

This seems to have happened since Sky have started replacing old viewing cards. I don't know how I stand on this because I'm no longer a Sky customer, so I shouldn't think they'll send me a replacement card.

Some of the ITV1 regions on Sky are encrypted, which is why you lost viewing since they updated the viewing cards to the new white ones. The card is also responsible for regionalising your box.

To restore viewing, you can either........

remove the old blue viewing card then reboot your box, i.e switch off at the mains.

When it reboots it will default to an FTA version of ITV- It may not be your current region though. For example, without a card my Sky box defaults to BBC London and ITV Central west (i live in the Tyne Tees North region).

If you're bothered about watching the correct regions, then all the BBC regions appear on the EPG from channel 971 onwards and an FTA version of your ITV region can be added manually and viewed via other channels( if you need help with this just ask).

Or........

The other option is to buy a Freesat from Sky card @ £20 which will regionlise your box, i.e give you your correct BBC/ITV regions on their main 101 and 103 slots on the EPG.

It will also restore viewing for Five, Fiver,Fiver+1,Five USA,Five USA+1, Sky 3 and 4HD(if you have an HD box) which are all encrypted but free channels, which you should of also lost when the old blue card was shut off.

To obtain an FSFS card you need to contact Sky on 08448 244 400.

When I set the box to search all channels, all of the regional ITV and C4 channels appear, marked as scrambled. If i set the box to search FTA only i get none of the above, just BBC1, 2 and FIVE. Looks like i'm gonna have to get a freesat box out here

Strange!

Does the metronic have the option to scan individual transponders, rather than just doing a full scan?

If so try scanning them manually,

The FTA versions of ITV etc are on, 10758.00 V and 10832.00 H and 10906.00 V

The FTA versions of C4 et are on, 10714.00 H and 10729.00 V
