Is it time to finally move on from Rotel?

Ever since my first CD player (a Rotel CD855) I have lovingly stuck with the brand.

However I seem to be missing out on all this new fangled hi def stuff and think I am ready to get into this blue ray that everyone is banging on about.

My current set up is admittedly getting on a bit. I have a 985 power amp, a 966 processor and a 985 DVD Player.

Processors seem to have gone out of fashion a bit but I still like the whole separation idea so am considering buying an AV amp but using it as a processor.

I am toying with the idea of going with a Denon AVR 1909 together with the new DVD188BD or with Pioneer's VSX1018AH with their BDPLX71.

Do either of these routes seem like winners or would a £1,000 be better spent elsewhere

Sorry Rotel

Ok, no responses so should I take this as a sign to sit tight, Rotel has afterall just released a new range (but without a blue ray player!).

ÿOr should I ask more specific questions?

ÿ1) Does anyone use an AV Amp as a processor? Deos it really improve the amp?

2) It it Ok to mix and match makes such as Rotel & Denon?

ÿHope to hear from you.
