Question Is adding a subwoofer to an existing hi-fi setup a smart way to avoid changing speakers, or an audiophile "faux pas"?

From what I can see online the Ruark Ikon only go down to 58Hz so you should see a massive improvement in bass response with a sub. Will take a bit of tweeking to integrate but I'd go for it!

Amp is Rega Elex, speakers are Ruark Icon, on stands. Subwooder under consideration is REL T5

Some of the best speakers in history came with subwoofers (that’s right more than one) to achieve the full range sound. Look up the infinity irs5 ( think that’s what they where called).

It depends what your after though it can sound unnatural if you don’t know what your doing. Your room may not even be capable of providing those tones or it could be too much of a good thing.

I’d also look at BK subs pretty much RELs same concept in design
