Looking at changing my IPod dock, currently have a Cambridge Audio ID10, running a jack output. Looking at changing it for a Cambrudge Audio ID50 as it has RCA output ans a controller.

Will you notice the diffrence between 3.5mm jack and RCA?

Thanks

Oh ok, can you add some detail to your comment ? I was under the impression 3.5mm jack can distort and lose quality, where as RCA is better designed for the job?

Thanks

No that's hifi hocus pocus. It could be argued that 3.5mm jacks aren't built as robustly as phono sockets but unless it becomes worn with repated use or faulty with a bad connection because you've got a 3kg downfoce hanging off the end of the plug, there's no reason why it should add any more distortion or be less reliable. In fact in studios the 1/4" versions are standard connectors along with XLRs, not RCA plugs.

Oh! Well learnt something new. So I wouldn't hear anything diffrent from changing from the ID10 (jack) to the ID50 (RCA). So save the £35 and keep what I have, "if its not broke dont fix it"

Thanks

Luke
