I have connected my sky 2gb box (red and white audio out) to a rotel amp and b&w 601's using a10m length of maplin's Nikkai stereo phones. I understand the limitations of a 10 m length but I was still a little disappointed with the sound which was a little flat. Could the sound be improved by the following:

a better quality cable which must be 10m e.g chord

a cheapish dac

alter some settings on my sky box that I may have missed.

i have tried to connect the tv (r l audio out) to the amp but this was worse than from the sky box to the amp. I suspect it may be the limitations of the sky source via audio outs that may be the limiting factor.

Sky box is underneath tv ame the speakers are behind my viewing position. Tha cable has to go around the room and bay window. It is not possible to place my speakers either side of the tv (unfortunately)

Unless someone recommends a decsent phono lead, i think it's a bit of a gamble on weather your sound improves, imo it's a big ask.
