Im Confused

Hi, Your advise to set up the Foxsat Pvr,after reading several threads im as confused as ever. Im having the Pvr delivered shortly and was going to HDMI to Tv then optical to receiver is there any better way? I don`t want to put the receiver on every time I watch freesat. Please please advise.

that's the way i understand it, i've been led to believe that most a/v receivers dont allow signal pass through without being powered up, so as you say hdmi straight to tv and optical to receiver

I've just replied on this in this thread: http://whathifi.com/forums/t/165084.aspx

I now have HDMI to the tv and optical to the receiver in place and everything works great. TV works as before. If you want cinema sound, just mute the tv (if you don't you'll get echoey sound as both will work) and turn on the amp and you'll get amazing sound through the cinema system. I can't believe the stereo sound quality difference between my Freesat box via optical to receiver and my tv / built in Freeview tuner via tv's optical to receiver.
